Mississippi Physicians Voice Support For Medical Marijuana Initiative

Are doctors more qualified to influence medical cannabis regulation than the brain-trust at the Mississippi Board of Health?

A group of Mississippi physicians published a letter to show their support for Initiative 65. The new initiative gives Mississippians the option of using medical marijuana from licensed facilities.

Prior to the statement, the Mississippi Board of Health voiced its strong opposition to the initiative. However, the statement from the group of physicians said that the Mississippi Board of Health's statement was filled with misinformation and old arguments.

The group of doctors detailed specific medical uses of cannabis for the benefit of Mississippi patients in order to debunk the information being shared by the Mississippi Board of Health.

This is the classic case of Prohibitionists who are rogue public officials that do not represent the majority of the people in their home state making decisions to try to influence voters with a false narrative.

Public health is at stake as Epilepsy, cancer, HIV, Crohn's, PTSD, and other patients have been restricted from having all the options that patients have in neighboring legal weed states.

It will be interesting to see whether the old school stigmatization attempts by the Mississippi Board of Health will result in a defeat for Initiative 65.  Patients in the area have either had to resort to the unregulated and untested market, or they become cannabis refugees that have to leave Mississippi for a place where they can treat their health conditions.

Why do states authorize medical weed for so many different uses, but then try to throw shade on the health benefits?  Voters can help to change the current status quo in Mississippi by making sure to listen to researchers and doctors who are actually studying and practicing in the field.
