It took three years from the approved legalization vote for regulators in Massachusetts to execute on issuing a new license to an African American dispensary applicant. Lucky for Pure Oasis it happens to be right in Boston, where there are approximately 700,000 local residents. Nearly 5 million people live in the greater metropolitan area surrounding Boston as well.
With limited licenses to compete with, it might have been worth the wait for entrepreneurs Kobie Evans and Kevin Hart to go through this lengthy process with regulators. Maintaining real estate access and meeting all of the regulatory requirements takes a great deal of resources.
Pure Oasis, according to Mr. Hart, will be located in the Dorcester neighborhood. Their only competitor in greater Boston is located in Brookline, affording this cannabis startup a pent-up demand due to the lack of retail permits in the area.
Good luck to Kobie and Kevin and our @420 Twitter would be happy to share any announcements about your opening to help get the word out.
