When Aneudy Gonzalez accepted the $2,500 contract to transport Hemp, it probably did not figure into his logistics calculations that he would be arrested and held not once but twice on his route from West to East.
There was one important thing Mr. Gonzalez's possession that should have been the proof in hand in order to dissuade curious law enforcement types. After all, it is confusing telling the difference between Hemp-CBD flowers and THC Flowers.
Well, who's problem is that? Apparently it is the current state of affairs in Arizona and Texas that while the law enforcement officers laboratory test hemp, they can hold a person in their custody until the tests are completed. This effectively punishes legal workers in the hemp sector, farmers by the way, who are agricultural producers that meet strict compliance standards under the Farm Bill.
So what was the one thing that Mr. Gonzalez had with him that should have made transporting these legal crops a straightforward matter? The SC Labs laboratory test results proving that the flowers were hemp.
As the Texas Tribune reported- in Arizona, Mr. Gonzalez was held overnight. In Texas, he was arrested and held for almost a month.
Is it a violation of a person's Civil Rights to detain them for any amount of time when hemp is legal?
In both circumstances in the Southwest, Mr. Gonzalez was cleared of any wrongdoing when the laboratory results came back in agreement with his test results. Since he had already provided test results to the officers, why is it ok for them to disrupt an innocent person's career and family life?
