The stories about mainstream companies trying to look cool by associating with legal weed companies and then discriminating against their free speech rights are numerous. CES brings us another, as reported by TechCrunch, where the owners of CES first gave a major accomplishment out to a cannabis startup called Keep Labs.
Imagine the surprise at the management of Keep Labs when CES banned them from using the word "cannabis" after CES had awarded the company an Innovation Award Honoree award for CES 2020 already.
Keep Labs decided not to exhibit at CES due to the impact on their messaging without being able to use the word "cannabis". Why would CES choose to award a relatively tame cannabis company, which does not touch the plant and helps to secure it from minors, only to attempt to censor them thereafter?
