Shrek’s Adventure is a one-of-a-kind family-friendly indoor walk-and-ride experience. Located in the former County Hall, it features 10 fairytale themed shows including a magical 4D flying bus ride and visits with many of the famous characters from the films.
Guests meet Princess Fiona, Donkey and friends like Gingy, Puss in Boots and Pinocchio as they help search for Shrek in Far Far Away. Kids can also find favourites from Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.
Located right on the Shrek World South Bank along with London Eye, SEA LIFE Aquarium and the London Dungeon, Shrek's Adventure is perfect for anyone who has a Merlin pass. The attraction can get pretty busy so if you're planning on going to the experience, I highly recommend that you book your tickets in advance to guarantee entry.
Once you arrive, the first thing that you'll notice is how well the experience is designed to immerse you into Shrek's world. From the dummy security scan to the Gingerbread Man on the lift doors, the attention to detail is fantastic.
The attraction starts off with you meeting Princess Fiona and Donkey before climbing aboard a magical flying 4D bus to Far Far Away. Throughout the journey, you'll visit Cinderella in Shrek's swamp, bump into Puss in Boots and rescue Pinocchio from Rumpelstiltskin's wheel of torture. You'll also have the chance to go through a mirror maze and meet other mystical characters like a fortune teller and the Muffin Man. The whole experience will take an hour and is a lot of fun for DreamWorks fans.
There is no ride at Shrek's Adventure but it is an immersive walk-through experience where you meet your favourite characters from the films. The experience is noisy and dark (as per the film) and has some adult humour so we wouldn't recommend it for children under 6. There are photo-ops but no meet and greets.
Guests are taken on an interactive journey through Far Far Away, meeting many of the DreamWorks characters along the way including Cinderella, Puss in Boots and Princess Fiona as well as Donkey and some of Rumpelstiltskin's wicked witches. They will visit a swamp, the Muffin Man's House and go through a mirror maze. The tour will also include a few small gameshow-like stints.
A typical trip will last about an hour and is best suited to kids aged 6 to 12. The standard ticket includes a 15-minute timed entry slot so it's worth booking online in advance. However, you can also purchase 'anytime' tickets which allow you to enter at any point during the day. These tickets are more expensive but may be worth it if you have a flexible itinerary.
While Shrek doesn’t leave his swamp unless he really has to, your family is invited to meet a whole host of characters from Far Far Away including Princess Fiona and Donkey, Gingy, Puss in Boots, Pinocchio, Thelonious (Rumpelstiltskin’s Torturer), and Cinderella. Plus, you’ll even get the chance to take a selfie with Shrek himself!
To help you make the most of your day, grab a map at one of the many kiosks located throughout the attraction. The map shows you where to find everything and can be used on all your subsequent visits to Shrek World.
Designed and built by Merlin Europe’s leading visitor attraction operator, Shrek’s Adventure is a state-of-the-art immersive experience featuring multi-channel audio and projection mapped characters and environments along with responsive lighting, 4D effects, scent, wind, and fog. It was the first time that DreamWorks had worked with a theme park and required a series of world class innovations in order to bring the experience to life. Seeper was proud to have been part of the team that created this innovative attraction.
Whether your kids are fans of the movies or not, Shrek's Adventure in London is an awesome experience that everyone will enjoy. This walk and ride attraction combines DreamWorks animation, 4D bus rides, and audience participation to transport you into the swamp of Shrek's home. Monkey was a little nervous about going to meet his favourite characters but he loved the experience and was happy to climb onto Donkey for a photo.
In Rumpelstiltskin's carriage, you will encounter the magical Fortune Teller who can help you escape from the witches that he sent after you (for a price). Then head over to the local pub, the Poison Apple, where you can have a drink and dance with Doris and her fellow regulars. Maybe Puss in Boots will be able to help you find Shrek too?
You will also have the chance to compete in the Wheel of Torture and rescue Pinocchio from his brutal torturer. And if you can make it through the dizzying mirror maze, you may even spot Sleeping Beauty who is a great help in finding Shrek.
At the end of your adventure you will meet Shrek, and he is very eager to take photos with you! This is a great way to remember your day in Far Far Away.
This attraction is a combination of a walkthrough, simulator and a show. Many characters like Doris and the Muffin Man are portrayed by live actors that interact with guests. This adds a level of realism that is not usually found in themed attractions.
You start by entering a faux establishment called DreamWorks Tours, and are given the option to select destinations such as Berk (from How To Train Your Dragon), China, or even Shrek’s swamp! Once on board, you are greeted by Fiona who tells the group what to expect when they enter the realm of Shrek.
After a short ride, the bus crashes into Shrek’s swamp, crushing the witch Griselda in the process (thanks Donkey). You then meet Cinderella who tells you that Shrek is missing and she suggests you look for him at Rumpelstiltskin’s old cart. Here, you may encounter a fortune teller who claims she can help find Shrek for a small fee.
